The splendour of an original Victorian hotel, injected with a strong spirit of modernity - an oasis of luxury in the heart of historic London.
The Great Eastern a joint venture between Conran Holdings and Wyndham International re-opened its doors in February 2000 after a three-year refurbishment costing GBP 70 million.
While reviving the splendour of the original Victorian hotel, the new design injects the building with a strong spirit of modernity.
Each of our rooms and suites is unique, but all of them are light and spacious, and easy on the eye. All rooms have a high standard of luxury and comfort, but there is nothing standard about the attention to detail in any of them; Frette linen sheets; pure wool carpets; giant antimacassars; Jacobson work lamp and Eames desk chair; two-line telephone, conference calling, fax, modem and ISDN lines; specially commissioned photography of the City; CD- and DVD-players are both standard, with libraries of discs available from Guest Relations; in room safe; air-conditioning; personal bar and 24 hour room service.
With four restaurants, four bars, and 24 hour room service, no other hotel in London offers this variety of food and drink: fresh, frequently healthy, always delicious.
Named after the beautiful stained glass dome overhead, our fine dining restaurant Aurora serves food and wine which aims to complement the beauty of the room. Inspired by the traditions of classical European cooking, Aurora's menu matches subtle flavours with painstaking attention to detail.
Around the world, wherever there is a railway station you will find a simple, unpretentious brasserie close by. Terminus is open for breakfast, and throughout the day and evening for a tasty snack or something more substantial.
With a focal altar of crustacea, Fishmarket is a temple to the abundance of British fresh fish and fruits de mer. Annexed to the restaurant is the Fishmarket Champagne Bar, which serves an extensive list of Champagnes and wines by the glass.
Grace is the keyword in our Japanese restaurant Miyabi, where the food prepared by our Japanese chefs is refined and essentially feminine. The restaurant seats just 28, but there are bento and sushi take-aways for those in a hurry or unable to get a table.
